A Celebration Of People With
toombs county ties
Kenneth and Linda Abbott
There are a lot of reasons to get outside and play when you live along or near the coast as we do. Most young men who were born and raised around these parts have had quite a bit of experience in the woods and in the water and Will is no exception. A 1998 graduate of Robert Toombs Christian Academy, Will’s love for the outdoors, and specifically fishing, have landed him where he is today – as a partner in a successful business venture called Flood Tide Co. based out of Charleston, SC.
Will had been in the healthcare business for many years and he and a friend, Paul Puckett, decided they would take a leap of faith and try their hand at creating a line of outdoor apparel and accessories. “Paul is a unique talent, a friend from Atlanta, and my fly fishing buddy.” Abbott said. Paul is an incredibly talented artist whose work focuses on the outdoors. It only made sense to incorporate his art with the apparel and, five years ago, Flood Tide Co. was born.
An impressive 165 stores nation-wide carry their apparel and accessories and their popularity continues to grow. Locally, their wares are sold at T-98 and many other boutique locations around the country. The artwork has even been sold to Orvis and has featured on a SweetWater Beer can.
Here’s the best part – they are very environmentally conscience. All their products are made in the USA and a portion of each purchase is donated to a conservation effort. Their goals are to change the retail world and never to put anything out that they wouldn’t be proud of. “Quality is key.” Will says.
Will and his wife, Penny, make their home in Beaufort, SC, and have 2 children – Wilson and Charlie.
